We had the privilege of photographing Madison and Shane’s beautiful winter wedding recently and I just can’t get enough! I was so excited to photograph our first wedding of 2023, and what a joy it was to work with Madison and Shane, their sweet families and amazing vendors! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect January day for these two — it was sunny and unseasonably warm, which only added to the delight of the day!
Madison and Shane met at Xavier University their freshman year of college, began dating when they were juniors, and have been together ever since! Several months ago, we met up for their engagement session on that very campus where their love story began! (Side note: I am always a fan of selecting a meaningful photo location for your engagement sesh!). Speaking of engagements, Shane proposed in his hometown of Boston in the charming city park, Boston Common, on a summer weekend in 2021. Not only was Madison surprised by the proposal, but also by her dear family who travelled to Boston to celebrate this exciting occasion! After the proposal, the couple continued the fun by attending a Red Sox game and then out to a lovely dinner with both of their families.
Family was an important aspect of Madison and Shane’s wedding. In lieu of a traditional bridal party, this sweet couple selected their brothers to stand by their sides as they were wed at St. Mary’s Parish in Hyde Park. I remember the bride’s mom saying how special it was to her that out of everyone, that they chose their brothers. It made for such an intimate, endearing and stress-free day for all, which accomplished Madison and Shane’s goal and vision of their wedding day! When I am chatting with a couple during their initial call, I tend to ask what is most important to them on their wedding day. Over a year ago on that call, Madison and Shane explained that their goal overall was to enjoy time with both of their families (and extended family from Ireland!), and to be as stress-free as possible. From my point of view, it seems they were able to do just that!
Before heading to their reception at The View at Mount Adams, we stopped by Ault Park, a place where they often enjoy taking walks together. I absolutely adore this location for photos! Cincinnati Parks keeps it looking beautiful in every season, and the pavilion is absolutely stunning. Then, to add in the sunshine and this beautiful bride and groom (and their families!) — Voila! Simply magical! Just scroll down to their photos and see for yourself!
After photos at Ault Park, we arrived at the View before cocktail hour and captured the beautiful Flowers by Brandi, centerpieces, and of course, the view! It is truly unmatched. We then made our way outside for a few more photos before Madison and Shane joined their friends and families for cocktail hour! Once Madison and Shane had been formally introduced into their gorgeous reception, the mother of the bride welcomed all the guests, followed by a delicious dinner by Funky’s Catering, toasts (both sentimental and hilarious) from their brothers and the parents of the groom, the cutting of their cake (a work of art by Spoon Fulla Sugar!), and of course, their first dance as husband and wife under the dazzling chandelier! The dance floor opened and the evening was enjoyed by all, celebrating Madison and Shane!! What a day to remember!
Wishing you all the best and so much congrats, Mr. and Mrs. Faherty! Cheers!!
