Ashley and Marc are such a sweet couple, with a big love for each other and others (and their cute little dog Mac)! They are surrounded by a whole lotta love as well from their family and friends, and their wedding day was full of warmth, joy and excitement!
I had the privilege of photographing Ashley’s sister’s wedding two years ago, and it was during the reception that Ashley asked if it was too early to book me to photograph her wedding in 2021. I was so honored and so thrilled! I love working with family and friends of previous clients. It brings a unique familiarity and comfortability to the wedding day that is just so enjoyable. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise that Ashley and Marc’s dream venue, The Monastery Event Center, did not have a June date available until 2021. Little did we know what 2020 would hold and the challenges it would bring. It was amazing that just shortly before Ashley and Marc’s big day, all covid restrictions were lifted and they were able to experience their wedding exactly as they had envisioned it – with all their favorite people and with plenty of hugs, no social distancing or masks, and tons of dancing (including a crowd-surfing Father-of-the-Bride)!! It was the best kind of normal in (almost) every way!
There was only one small challenge that presented itself on their wedding day – the plethora of cicadas. They were at a peek that day, and were also ready to join in the party! I am not a bug person. This sweet bride was not a bug person. Several bridal party members – also not bug-loving people. I had to dig down deep to maintain some self-control and not freak out at these swarming things! We were in it together – the bridal party, me and my second shooter, the videographers. We not only took photos outside of the Monastery Event Center, but also headed to the Eden Park area with bravery and bug-swatting breaks in tow! This fun crew were troopers, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to celebrate Ashley and Marc, despite the cicada invasion!
Looking through these photos, I guarantee you won’t see one insect (never thought I would write that line!). But, what you will see, is a gorgeous wedding day full of love, smiles, beauty, laughter and fun! And that is what I hope is remembered for decades to come when Ashely and Marc think back on this truly incredible day! So thankful for the opportunity to join in on their journey and document all these special moments! Loved every minute!
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Werner!!
